Oaks, Mrs. Josephine, East Hamburg, p. o. Orchard Park.-The late Norman W. Oaks was born in the town of East
Hamburg, January 5, 1834; he was educated in the district schools and was a farmer. April 4, 1875, he married Josephine,
daughter of Addis B. and Jane M. Smith, and they had five children: Helen M., G. Howard, Jennie, who died at the
age of five years, Loren A. and Warren fl Mr. Oaks died May 3, 1884. Mrs. Oaks's father, Addis B. Smith, was born
on the Smith homestead, February 14, 1830; he was educated in the public schools and always followed farming. January
1, 1851, he married Jane M. Seaton of Otsego county, and they had three children: Josephine (as above), Hattie
I. and Elizabeth C. Hattie I. married Samuel F. Oaks, and they had four children, Cora J., Albert S., Mabel B.
and Walter. Elizabeth C. married Harrison A. Oaks of Buffalo. Mr. Smith died November 9, 1870, in the prime of
life.
