Michael Henry, Hamburg, was born in Hessen, Germany, March 19, 1838, and came to America with his parents when
twelve years old, locating in Orchard Park, East Hamburg, where he attended school and received an English education.
He has had several occupations, harness maker, merchant, farmers' supplies and real estate operator. January 15,
1856, he married Charlotte Moore, and they have four children: Emma F., Amanda C., Ella B. and Clara M. Emma F.
married Henry E. White, of Hamburg, N. Y., and they have a daughter, Vera H.; Amanda C. resides at home: Ella B.
married Charles W. Benjamin of Olean, Cattaraugus county, where they reside and have two children, F. Marie and
C. Howard; Clara M. married Canton M. Shaw of the town of Eden and they have a son, Malin M. November 3, 1863,
Mr. Michael enlisted in Co. C, 15th Heavy Artillery, N. Y. Vols., and was honorably discharged July 23, 1865. He
is a member of Fraternal Lodge No. 625, F. & A. M., and the N. J. Swift Post No. 440, G. A. R., Dept. of New
York; also a member of of the A. O. U. W., No. 88.
