Biography of John Massing


Massing, John, East Hamburg, p. o. West Falls, was born in Buffalo, N. Y., October 3, 1860; he was educated in the public schools of that city. He has a milk route in Buffalo and has also been in the meat business and is now a farmer in the town of East Hamburg. May 16, 1882, he married Barbara Schill of Buffalo, formerly of Germany, and they have five children: Julia M., Charles J., Wilhelmina C., Ernest P. and Harry G. Mr. Massing's father, William Massing, was born in Germany, September 20, 1883; he was educated there and came to America in 1848, locating in Buffalo. He married Margaret Schliwiess of Buffalo, formerly of Germany, and they had four sons: William, John (as above), Henry and Peter. Both father and mother are living at this date, 1897. Mrs. Massing's father, John Schill, was born in Germany in 1821; he married Mary A. Roller of his native place and came to America in 1867, locating in Buffalo. They had seven children: Christina, Jacob, John, George, Barbara, Charles and Henry. Mr. Schill died in 1890 and his wife in 1876. Mr. Massing in his political choice is a thorough Republican.
