Biography of Frederick Langbein
Erie County, NY Biographies


Langbein, Frederick, Hamburg, p. o. Lakeview, was born in Mecklenbnrg, Germany, November 22, 1866, and came to America with his parents in 1869, locating in Hamburg-on-the-Lake. He was educated in the common schools and in early life was a farmer by occupation. For the past ten years he has been in the employ of N. Y. C. & St. L. Railway Co., and has been section foreman, now in his seventh year. November 5, 1891, he married Rachel L. Gehl of the town of Evans. They have had two children, Frederick (who died in infancy), and Joseph J., who was born June 28, 1895. Mr. Langbein's father, Joseph, was born in the old home in Germany, March 22, 1829. October 21, 1862, he married Rachel Heiser of his native place, and they had two children, John and Frederick (as above). Mrs. Langbein's father, Ernest Gehi, was born in Germany, February 1, 1838. He married Frederica Hoth of his native place, and they had five children: Minnie, Sophia, Bertha, Charles and Rachel L. (as above). Mr. and Mrs. Gehi came to America in 1869, locating in the town of Hamburg and are both living at this date, 1897.
