Knowlton, Lucinda, East Hamburg, p. o. Hamburg.-The late William Knowlton was born in the north of Ireland in
1810. He was sent to England at the age of seven, and came to the United States when a young man. He was a merchant
and sold goods from his traveling wagon with great success for many years. He married Rhoba, daughter of Zenas
Smith of the town of East Hamburg. and they had three children, Lucinda, Ellen and Henry. Ellen married Burton
Prindle of Hamburg, and they have two children, Alice and Floyd; Mr. Prindle is a railway conductor. Henry married
Delphine Shoemaker of Hamburg, and they have four children, Ruby M., Leroy B., Edna M. and Mabel B. Mr. Knowlton
died September 30, 1896, mourned by a bereaved wife and children. Mrs. Knowlton's father, Zenas Smith, was born
in Vermont in 1785. He married Hannah Allen of his native place, and came to this State and county. They had eleven
children: Sylvanus, Sarah, Phoebe, Armina, Rhoba (as above), Nathan A.. Zelia, Hannah, Joel, Livonja Lucinda. Mr.
Smith died June 26, 1861, and his wife October 7, 1847.
