Knoche, William, East Hamburg, p. o. Orchard Park, was born in Tonawanda, N. Y., September 1, 1854; he was educated in the district schools and is a farmer by occupation. March 11, 1879, he married Lucy L. Marquart of the town of Lancaster, and they had eight children; Edward L., Frank W., Neflie M., killie E., Harvey A., Elmer J., Laura L. and Alice R. Mr. Knoche's father, Michael Knoche, was born in Alsace, France (now Germany), in 1820, and came to the United States with his parents when ten years old; they located in Tonawanda. He married Catherine Zurbrick, formerly of Germany, and they had seven children: George, Michael, jr., Catherine, Caroline, Philip, William and Elizabeth. Mrs. Knoche died March 30, 1897, and had she lived until April 1 their married life would have been fifty-two years; Mr. Knoche survives at this date, 1897.
