Kiene, Hugo S., Buffalo, was born in Buffalo, N. Y., February 15, 1858, and is a son of Sebastian C. Kiene and Lena Backert, his wife. His parents, natives of Germany, came to America when young and were married in this country. Sebastian C. Kiene, who settled in Buffalo about 1850, was a tinner by trade, but afterward engaged in the grocery business, which he successfully continued until about 1884. He died in 1888, leaving two sons and a daughter. Hugo S. Since then he has been in active and successful practice in his native city.
