Kersten, Ferdinand J., Buffalo, was born in Buffalo, September 19, 1853. After obtaining a liberal education
he entered the employ of the Jewett Manufacturing Company, where he remained for twenty-seven years. At the end
of that period he established the Buffalo Enameling Works at 106 Broadway. By honest methods and fair dealings
he has built up a large business and employs several men. In 1875 he married Margaret Knell, daughter of Peter
Knell of Buffalo, and they have seven children: Ferdinand P., Louisa S., Martha L., Eugene C., Stella, Elsie and
Grace. Mr. Kersten is a member of Concordia Lodge No. 143, F. & A. M.
