Haupt, C. L., Amherst, p. o. Williamsville, was born in Alsace, Germany, May 16, 1850, and came to America with his parents in the same year. They first settled in Richville, N. Y., but subsequently removed to Hunt's Corners, where they remained some years, when they came to Williamsville. They next went to Akron, N. Y., and Mr. Haupt finally settled in Williamsville in 1866, and there learned his trade. He has been in business for himself twenty years and almost the whole period at his present stand. He has been village clerk for twenty five years and secretary of the Board of Education for ten years. He is a member of the C. M. B. Hoffman of Williamsville. Mr. Haupt's parents were Adam and Elizabeth (Schneider) Haupt, both natives of Germany. His mother died in Akron, September 2, 1866, and his father, who is eighty three years old, is living with him at the present time.
