Biography of Adam Hartman


Hartman, Adam, Tonawanda, was born in Prussia, Germany, April 6, 1834, and came to the United States in 1852, settled on Grand Island, and engaged in farming and. wood boating from Grand Island to Buffalo, and in 1879 moved to Tonawanda and established his present business, and is at the present time the largest tug owner in Tonawanda. In 1861 he married Miss Caroline, daughter of Lewis Levi, by whom he has had three sons, Frank, Adam and Louis, and two daughters, Mrs. Caroline Henneberger and Miss Mary Hartman. Adam Hartman is one of the self-made men of the town.
