Hamp, Frederick, Tonawanda, is a native of Germany, born in Altkalden by Dargun, in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, May
12, 1845. He was married on September 29, 1870, to Sophia Völker, born in Jondensdorf by Teterow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin,
and came to America in 1872, settling in Tonawanda. In 1877 he formed a copartnership with George Betts in the
furniture and undertaking business, which continued for six months, when he purchased the interest of his partner
and has since conducted the business alone. Mr. and Mrs. Hamp have five children.
