Biography of John Hamilton

Hamilton, John, Buffalo, a native of Ireland, was born May 16, 1850, and at the age of twenty-two he emigrated to this country and soon found employment in the dry goods establishment of A. T. Stewart of New York. He remained there until 1879, when he removed to Buffalo and engaged in business on his own account in company with Robert McCracken, under the style of Hamilton & McCracken, which copartnership continued until 1887, when Mr. McCracken retired and Mr. Hamilton has since conducted the business alone. Mr. Hamilton is well known and is considered one of the largest and most successful wholesale milliners of Buffalo.
