Gail, Adelbert D., Buffalo, son of John H. and Mary T. (Brown) Gail, was born in Aurora, Erie county, N. Y.,
December 27, 1858. In 1862 his parents removed to Buffalo, where he obtained a good public and high school education,
and where he subsequently entered his father's wholesale commission house, with which he has since been connected.
In 1882 he was admitted to a partnership in the business. The firm of John H. and Adelbert D. Gail is one of the
largest jobbers in apples in the United States and one of the most extensive dealers in general produce in Western
New York. Mr. Gail is a member of Hiram Lodge, No. 105, F. & A. M., of Buffalo Chapter, No. 71, R. A. M., of
Queen City Council, No. 60, R. & S. M., and of the Acacia Club. He is also a director of Homoeopathic Hospital
of Buffalo, and has been an officer of the Buffalo Produce Exchange since its organization in 1885, serving at
one time as its president. In 1878 he married Nettie Parker, of Buffalo, who died March 1, 1885, leaving three
children: Mary Alice, Maud Minnetta, and Florence Ella. On May 20, 1886, be married Margaret Sarde, of Camden,
Delaware, and they have one son, Adelbert Dexter, Jr.
