Biography of Mrs. Mary A. Cook (W/O Fred W.)


Cook, Mrs. Mary A., Hamburg, p. o. Lakeview.-Mrs. Cook's father, John Barker, was born in Herkimer county, N. Y., in 1822, and came to Rochester when a young man. He was engaged as roadmaster for the N. Y. C. Railroad Co., from Rochester to Niagara Falls, until his last sickness. In 1846 he married Urania Allison, and they had one daughter: Mary A. (as above). Mr. Barker died in 1879. Mary A. Barker married Fred W. Cook, and they had three children: Charles S., W. Lester and Marion S. Mr. Cook was killed in a railway accident at Angola, in 1867, and his widow survives at this date.
