Colvin, Albert Dwight, East Hamburg, p. o. Hamburg. - Mr. Colvin's father, Amos Colvin, was born in the southern part of the town of East Hamburg, March 8, 1829. He was educated in the schools of that early day and in early life was a house painter and decorator, afterwards a farmer. May 28, 1857, he married Maryette Wheelock of his native town, and they had two sons, Albert D. and Edwin R. Albert D. was well educated and was appointed deputy sheriff of the county, January 1, 1896. He married Sarah H. Sowle of the town of Hamburg, and they have two daughters, Mabel M. and Clara M. Edwin R. married twice, first to Maud Eddy of Hamburg, and they had one daughter, Ethel M., who died in infancy. Mrs. Colvin died in 1889. and for his seconi wife he married Lillian M. Rector. Amos Colvin's father, Amos, was born in Vermont in 1784, and came to Erie county when a young man. He married Sarah Sprague of his native town, and they had eleven children. He died in 1835 and his widow in 1875. Mrs. Colvin's father, Albert Wheelock, was born in Vermont in 1805, and came with his parents to this county when seven years old. He was educated in the schools of that day, and was a carpenter, joiner and farmer. He married Lena Clark, and they had five children: Laura, Maryette, William H., H. Oscar and a baby boy not named. Mr. Wheelock died June 8, 1875, and his widow January 25, 1894. Pioneers of the Colvin family settled in East Hamburg as early as 1804. In their political choice they are staunch Republicans. Mrs. Maryette Colvin's grandfather, Silas Wheelock, was a soldier in the war of 1812.
