Biography of Adelia Bates
Erie County, NY Biographies


Bates, Adelia, Concord, p. o. Springville, was born in the town of Otto, in 1842. Her father, Darius Babcock, was one of the pioneer settlers of that town. Adelia Bates was educated in Otto and afterwards spent two years at the Electro-Therapeutic Institution of Toronto, Canada. In 1862 she married Allan Bates of Otto, who is a descendant of Sylvanus Bates, one of the first settlers of the town of Collins. In 1878 they established their home near Springville and have successfully treated a large number of patients by their Electro Therapeutic treatment and hygienic living, making a duccess that has attracted the attention of the medical profession.
