Biography of John D. Bachman


Bachman, John D., Hamburg, p. o. Orchard Park, was born in the town of West Seneca, N. Y., September 3, 1863. He was educated in the district schools and is by occupation a contractor and builder. April 26, 1889, he married Emma S. Busch, and they have four children: Amy L., Elsie K., B. Marie and Marjorie I. Mr. Bachman was elected collector of the town in 1895 and re-elected in 1896. He is a charter member of Erie Tent No. 161, K. O. T. M. His father, Rudolph Bacliman, was born in Baden, Germany, September 20, 1829. He came to America when a young man, locating in the town of West Seneca. He married Marie Boiler, and they have seven children, of whom only three survive: Anna, John D. (as above) and Caroline. Mrs. Bachman's father, Frederick Busch, was born in Wurtemberg, Germany, April 2, 1820. He married Elizabeth Kinnie and came to America in 1853. Three of their children were born in Germany, nine all told.
