Wales, Theron A., M.D., secretary of the local board of United States pension examiners, was born at Weymouth,
Mass., July 15, 1842. He received his literary education at Dartmouth College and the University of Michigan, and
was graduated from the Medical Department of the University of Pennsylvania in the class of '73. He began the practice
of his profession at once after leaving college, and has remained in Elmira, where his superior literary attainments
have gained him reputation as a writer upon various topics. His professional skill is fully recognized in the community.
He is a member of the Chemung County Medical Society, the New York State Medical Association, the American Medical
Association, and was a delegate to the International Medical Congress which met at Washington, D. C., in 1887.
Dr. Wales married, in Elmira in September, 1872, Miss Zippie Brooks, a nativd of Winhall, Vt. Immediately after
her marriage Mrs. Wales took up the study of medicine and on the 12th of March, 1873, was graduated from the Woman's
Medical College at Philadelphia. Associated with her husband she devotes her time to the successful practice of
medicine in its various branches, but with especial reference to the diseases of women and children.
