Biography of Dr. H. de Valson Pratt, Jr.

Pratt, H. de Valson, Jr., M.D., was born in Waverly, N. Y., September 12, 1856, and was educated at Amherst College, graduating in the class of 1878 as A. B. and receiving the degree of A. M. in 1881. He entered the College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York city in 1878, from which he was graduated in 1881. Later he attended the Universities of Vienna and Heidelberg, spending two years in Europe. He began the practice of his profession in Elmira in 1882 with Dr. Stanchfield, which partnership existed nine months. Since then he has practiced alone. Dr. Pratt is a member of the Chemung County Medical Society, a member of the Academy of Medicine, and a permanent member of the New York State Medical Society. He wrote a highly praised monograph on extra uterine pregnancy in 1890. Dr. Pratt belongs to the order of Elks, the A. O. U. W., the K. T., and St. Omer's Commandery. He is also a prominent member of the American Academy of Medicine and in politics is a Republican. He has been health officer and was surgeon of the Thirtieth Separate Company. He married, in Elmira in 1883, a daughter of Mr. Murdoch, and they have three children. Dr. Pratt acts as medical examiner for several insurance companies.
