Biography of Jacob Featherman
Chemung County, NY Biographies





Featherman, Jacob, born May 18, 1844, was educated in the public schools and in 1866 became an employee on the Northern Central Railroad. In 1867 he was promoted engineer and left the company for a short time, but returned to the same position in 1872, which he still holds. March 26, 1869, he married Almira J., daughter of Lewis and Emily Heed, of New Jersey. They have five children: Elwood J., born August 22, 1870; Emily, born November 4, 1872; Hattie E., born March 13, 1875; Edgar G., born March 21, 1881; and Martha A., born July 12, 1887. Philip, father of Jacob, was born in Monroe County, Pa., about 1807. He married Elizabeth Eckard and had born to him four sons and one daughter, viz.: Lewis, John J., Jacob, Susan, and Franklin B.
