Biography of Charles L. Eaton

Eaton, Charles L., a native of Tioga County, Pa., was born October 1, 1843, and was for several years a resident of Steuben County, N. Y., but removed to Catlin in 1883, where he has since resided. March 4, 1868, ho married Sophia C., daughter of Samuel and Nancy (Cogswell) Bucher, who was born July 11, 1844. Mr. and Mrs. Eaton have four children: Samuel W., Nathaniel L., Edna S., and Glenn R. Samuel is connected with the State Normal School at Oneonta and the others are living at home. Mrs. Eaton is a descendant of a German family who came to America at an early day. Her grandfather, Jacob Bucher, was one of the early settlers in Post Creek Valley and had a family of ten children. Samuel Bucher, one of the sons, was a resident of Catlin, was born in 1811, and died September 4, 1883. His wife was Nancy Cogswell, whom he married January 3, 1836. She was born February 11, 1809, and still survives. Of their five children two are living.
