Biography of Jacob Decker
Chemung County, NY Biographies





Decker, Jacob, born in Orange County, N. Y., came to Chemung in 1800 among the first settlers of the town. Here he died in 1845, aged fifty nine years. He cleared a farm in Southport. His wife was Eunice Kelsey, who was born March 16, 1789, and died in Chemung in 1865, aged seventy six years. His children were: Aaron E., Addison, Polly, George, Thomas, Jane, Harrison, and Julia A. George Decker was born in Chemung, January 7, 1815, and died here January 27, 1878. He married Sarah Bentley, who died in this town March 27, 1884, aged sixty three. His children were Grove, Eliza, Jacob, Polk, Dallas M., and Alexandra. Jacob Decker, born in Chiming, July 15. 1845, married Sarah, daughter of G. W. and Harriet (Baldwin) Burt, and his children are George B., Hattie E., Dallas M., and Cora L. He married, second, Lena M., daughter of Joseph M. and Susan (Taylor) Payne, by whom he has one son, Furman B. Mr. Decker resides on the homestead farm.
