DANIEL G. UNDERWOOD - Both as a business man and as a public official, Daniel G. Underwood has won esteem in
the eyes of his fellow citizens, and is a leading citizen of Deposit, New York, of which village he was president
for one term. Mr. Underwood is a native of Pennsylvania, born at Lake Como, Wayne county, April 12, 1861.
In the public schools he received his elementary education, and soon after completing his studies he became associated
with his father, Willard G. Underwood, who combined the business of stone quarrying and farming very successfully.
As he grew older the son assumed much of the responsibility and in due course of time he was in full control. He
has given most of his attention to the stone business, and is one of the large dealers in his section of the State.
He is a Mason, and a member of the Presbyterian church.
Mr. Underwood married, July 27, 1887, at Owego, New York, Alice L. Lane, born March 4, 1864, daughter of Charles
T. and Mary E. (Brownell) Lane. There were two children born of this marriage: F. Elizabeth, born January 27, 1891;
Willard L., born October 16, 1897.
