Rogers, John Barker, p. o. Chenango Forks, retired, born in Lisle in 1796; wife, Harriet L. Meloy, born in Connecticut
in 1799, married in 1820, and died in 1873; children nine, six now living: Mary Ann, Julia, Caroline, Theodore,
Norman S. and George W. Parents, Simon and Mary (Barker) Rogers, natives of Connecticut who settled in Tioga county
(now Broome county) in 1790. John B. was member of As sembly in 1844, and postmaster thirty years. He began the
lumber trade when but a boy, and in 1824 started in mercantile business, from which he retired in 1860 and has
continued a butter commission business since.
