VERNON H. QUICK, a skilled optometrist of Binghamton, New York, is a son of Philip E. Quick, a farmer of Tompkins county, New York, of an ancient county family, and Clara M. (Herrick) Quick of Tioga county, New York. Philip E. Quick has now retired from active participation in farm management and labor, and is a resident of Binghamton, New York.

Vernon H. Quick was born at the home fan of Tompkins county, New York, April 8, 1880. He completed grade and high school study in Owego, New York, with graduation from high school, class of 1899, and for some years was engaged in a variety of occupations. He then pursued courses of study at the Rochester School of Optometry, whence he was graduated, class of 1907; also graduated from the University of the State of New York, 1909; and from the Philadelphia Optical College, class of 1912. In the latter year he entered the employ of B. T. Ash, a jeweler of Binghamton, with whom he remained for two years. He then joined forces with other optometrists of Binghamton in establishing a combination of four stores, which were conducted under the name of the Klatorik Optical Company. For two years Mr. Quick operated the company store at No. 151 Washington street, but the next year he started business as an optometrist, establishing private offices at No. 45 Court street, Binghamton, where he is well established and prosperous.

Dr. Quick is a member of Otseningo Lodge, No. 435, Free and Accepted Masons; is a member of Otseningo Consistory, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite; and is a noble of the Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. He is a member of the Binghamton Rotary Club, the Young Men's Christian Associations, and the Broome County Sportsmen's Association. He is a Republican in politics, and a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.

Dr. Quick married, on October 6, 1910, Cora B. Brink, of Michigan, and they are the parents of three children: Henry E., born February 8, 1913; Eleanor M., born April 1, 1915; and Mary A., born April 17, 1918.
