LOUIS J. BURTON - A worthy representative of that class of citizens who lead quiet and industrious lives, constituting
the best portion of the community, Louis J. Burton, owner of the Endicott Grocery and Restaurant of Endicott, New
York, was born in Guilford, New York, May 13, 1885. He is a son of Judson and Mary Burton, the former being engaged
in railroad work. The schools of Guilford afforded Mr. Burton the source of his early education and after completing
his schooling he worked at various occupations, acquiring experience and laying a foundation for the future. He
always gave the best that was in him to the task in hand and this quality has been a large factor in making the
energetic and successful man of business which he is today.
Mr. Burton purchased the grocery store which he now conducts and later added the restaurant business to his first
venture, and the two are both very successful. In the course of his business he has made a large acquaintance among
the citizens of Endicott. He is a self made man in the fullest sense of the term. In politics Mr. Burton is a Republican,
and has never failed to respond to any worthy demand. He is a Mason and an Elk. Mr. Burton married, at Sidney,
New York, Leona R. Sprague, daughter of Thomas and Rachel Sprague, and with his wife attends the Episcopal church
of Endicott.
