J. RENNIE ALLEN, leading undertaker of the town of Endicott, New York, is a native of Maine, New York, where
he was born July 16, 1885, son of John J. and Lettie A. (Smith) Allen. The former was also engaged in this profession
and held a prominent place among the foremost citizens of Maine for many years.
After J. Rennie Allen completed his formal education he became associated with his father to learn the business
and after his preliminary training there, went to Philadelphia, where he followed a course in this profession.
After completing his time there, Mr. Allen came to Endicott, and there engaged in business. He has been there for
seven years, and during this time has established himself firmly in the esteem of the citizens of that town.
Mr. Allen is prominent in public and fraternal matters. His political views are with the Republican party, and
to this party's interests he gives his undivided attention. He is a Mason of high degree, and is a member in good
standing of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and the Knights
of Maccabees. He is also a charter member and a director of the Rotary Club, a national organization which works
for the general progress.
J. Rennie Allen married, September 18, 1906, in Maine, Jessie A. Dudley, daughter of Dr. Dwight and Alice (Hankins)
Dudley. Mr. and Mrs. Allen were the parents of two children: Audley D., born December 15, 1907, and J. Ward, born
October 11, 1911. The family attend the Endicott Methodist Church.
