Fred Mostrom was born in Sweden on the 30th of September, 1874, and accompanied his parents to the United States
in 1878. He attended primary school in Chicago and after the family home had been established in Minnesota was
a student in the district schools of that state. He supplemented the education so acquired by a course in a business
college at Winnipeg, Manitoba, from which he was graduated in 1897. He then clerked in Winnipeg for two years,
after which he removed to Wahoo, Saunders county, Nebraska, where he clerked in different stores for about three
years. At the end of that time he turned his attention to farming, which occupation he followed for six years.
He next came to Ceresco and engaged in the hardware business for four years, after which he sold out and entered
the Farmers & Merchants Bank as cashier in February, 1912. He still holds that position and has proved a thoroughly
capable and reliable official.
On the 8th of February, 1899, Mr. Mostrom married Miss Ida Martinson, a daughter of John Martinson, one of the
pioneers of Saunders county. Mr. and Mrs. Mostrom have four children: Ruth, Carl and Philip, all of whom are attending
school in Ceresco; and Oliver, an infant.
Mr. Mostrom believes in the national policies of the democratic party but places the fitness of the candidate before
his party affiliation. He is a consistent member of the Swedish Mission church and in all the relations of life
his conduct has measured up to high standards.
