Mr. JOSEPH BALCOM, so long identified with the business interests of Winona, was a native of New York, and,
as before stated, came to Winona in 1855, after having spent some years in California. He died in the Lake Superior
mining regions, June 3, 1882, where he was engaged in looking after his interests in the copper mines of that region.
His widow still survives, and is a resident of this city.
