Hans Stigen, proprietor of a farm in Black Hammer township, where he has resided for a number of years, was
born in Norway, and was married in his native land to Olena Hanson. In 1881 they emigrated to the United States,
locating about thirty miles southeast of La Cross, Wis., where they resided for a while, Mr. Stigen working for
others. Finally they moved to Black Hammer township, Houston county, Minn., where Mr. Stigen bought the farm on
which he and his wife are still living, and on which he has made improvements. They have had a famliy of fourteen
children.
