Carl Kruckow, who was engaged for a quarter of a century in improving a farm in Mayville township, but who is
now deceased, was born in Germany, where he grew to manhood and married Augusta Poehlen. In 1883 he came alone
to Houston county, Minn., being joined by his wife and children in the following year. Settling on a farm in Mayville
township, three miles east of Caledonia, he bought the property and was engaged in farming there until his death
on Feb. 8, 1918. His wife, who survived him, is still residing on the homestead. They were the parents of seven
children.
