Nels Christianson, an early settler in Sheldon township, long since deceased, was a native of Telemarken, Norway,
and was there married to Ingeborg Johnson. Coming to the United States in 1861, they located on land in section
22, Sheldon township, which now constitutes the farm of their son, John Nelson. It was then all wild land, but
Mr. Christianson made improvements on it, and also worked other lands for a few years. His life, however, was not
sufficiently prolonged to enable him to develop a good farm, as in 1869 he died, his death being followed by that
of his wife two years later. They had a family of six children.
