R. Whitman, of the firm of Conklin and Whitman, hardware dealers, is a native of Dakota county, Minnesota, born
at Mendota, November 6th, 1855. After the completion of his education, he, in October, 1873, entered the office
of clerk of court remaining until the firm was formed in the spring of 1881.
