Biography of John Teachout
Castle Rock, Dakota County, MN Biographies

John Teachout was born March 9th, 1833, at Canajoharie, Montgomery county, New York, In 1847, he moved to Wisconsin with his parents and acquired a practical education. Coming to Castle Rock in 1856, he at once made a claim of One hundred and sixty acres, his present farm being a portion of it. Mr. Teachout is one of the early settlers, and is an industrious and respectable citizen. Enlisted in February, 1865, in First Minnesota Heavy Artillery under Col. Colville; was discharged at the hospital Chattanooga, August 17th, 1865. Married Cordelia Case, March 26th, 1856. They have had five children, four of whom are now living Rim Annis, Frank Grant, Orena Elnora, George Henry, all residing at home with their parents.
