Biography of Emanuel Stapf

Emanuel Stapf, born June 26th, 1824, ia a native of Germany. He attended school in the land, of his nativity and spent six years in the German army. Came to America in 1852, locating at Dayton, Ohio, and worked as farmer. In 1856, came to Hastings making a claim the same spring, of one hundred and sixty acres in Castle Rock township; erected his present residence in 1866, and two years later a fine stone barn forty by sixty-two feet. Mr. Stapf donated three acres for church purposes, and two. hundred and eleven dollars in money. This was the largest amount subscribed to the church, which edifice was dedicated March 10th, 1867. Married in Germany in 1851, Miss Katrina Zimmerman; their living children are: Christian P., Lewis S., Henry G. and Gustavus W.
