B. Stevens was born at Fort Ann, Washington county, New York, November 24th, 1833. During his fifteenth year,
he came with his parents to Rock county, Wisconsin, and there finished his education, his only opportunity for
attending school being, during the winter months. During the fail of 1854, he located with his father and two brothers
in Castle Bock township, on a claim of one hundred and sixty acres, a portion of which is embraced in his present
farm. His marriage with Miss Martha J. Stoddard, occurred April 12th, 1857: George B., William, Hermon L., Minnie
M., Clara A., Myron L., Grace M., Sydney B. and Ralph W. are their children Mr. Stevens enlisted in 1862, in Eighth
Minnesota, Company F, under Col. Thomas, serving until the close of the war.
