William Schweitzer was born in Prussia, near the river Rhine, April 20th, 1829. While there, engaged in farming
and was also a blacksmith. Came to America in 1847, locating in whatis now Calumet county, Wisconsin. Six years
subsequently he came to Dakota county Minnesota, and located on a farm in Hampton, engaging in agricultural pursuits
until 1874, then embarked in the hotel business, having since continued. His wife was Miss Matilda Groil, a native
of Prussia, married in 1852. They have three sons and three daughters: Arnold, Hubbard, Lizzie, Leborious, Theodore
and Anna.
