A. G. Ruby was born at Stafford Springs, Tolland county, Connecticut, in 1822. At twenty years of age, he went to Springfield, Massachusetts, and engaged in the hotels two years; then was employed as baggage master on the Springfield and New Haven railway for five years. After a stay of one and one half years in California, he returned to his former trust, remaining in that position seven years.
