James McDonough was born in County Mayo, Ireland, and, in 1859, came to America. Landing in New York, he lived
there one year, then went to Vermont. In 1865, he came to Minnesota and purchased a school section in Eagan township,
on which he now resides. His wife, whom he married in 1853, has borne him four children: Terrence, Annie, John
and Patrick.
