Francis Howard was born in Orange county, Vermont, in 1827. At the age of ten years he went to Franklin county,
New York. During childhood his educational advantages were somewhat limited, and on attaining his majority he decided
to strive earnestly for more knowledge. He accordingly began attendance at the high school at Malone, Franklin
county, and graduated at the age of twenty five, having fitted himself for the ministry. He was pastor of a Baptist
church in St. Lawrence county five years, then went to Brandon, Vermont, as teacher in the graded school, occupying
that position five years. In 1866 he came to Minnesota and invested in the farm on which he now lives. Has taught
schoolanumber of terms at Green Vale and inthat vicinity. For nine years he has been town supervisor, and assessor
two years. Married, in 1855, Miss Elizabeth Carr, who died in 1876, her remains being interred at Northfield.
