Michael Heinen, county auditor, was born in Prussia, Dctober 28th, 1846. Immigrated to the United States with
his parents in 1857, and first settled near St. Paul, Minnesota. He was here reared on his father's farm, and was
educated in the schools of Ramsey county. In 1865, came to Vermillion, Dakota county, and engaged in farming. Held
the office of town clerk of Vermilion four years and was chairman of the board of supervisors two years. During
the fall of 1872 was elected county auditor and still holds that position. Married in 1871 to Elizabeth Schwartz,
who has borne him five children: Magdalene, Barbara, Josephine, Mary and Catherine.
