Doctor R. Freeman was born in Orleans county, New York, in 1818. Here he was reared until twenty-two years as
a farmer, also devoted some some time to the study of medicine. Went to Ohio and remained ten years, thence to
Iowa, continuing his former occupation. In 1855, came to Minnesota and located at Hastings in 1875. His medical
education was received through the study of human nature and observation. He has an electro-thermal bath institution.
Has been twice married and has seven living children by his first wife. In 1867, married Mrs. Topping. His eldest
son is a surgeon in Kansas.
