George Clark was born at Rochester, New York, July 8th, 1855. He engaged as cabin boy, in 1867, on an ocean
steamer, running from New York to Liverpool; this vocation he pursued three years. Removing later to Dakota he
lived four 'years, and in the meantime learned the blacksmith's trade. In 1864 he came to Minnesota, and settled
in St. Paul, and became a resident of Inver Grove, in 1877. He opened a blacksmith and repair shop, and is doing
a good business. Married June 4th, 1879, to Miss Ellen Hanlon; they have one son, George.
