Lawrence J. Casserly was born in New Jersey in 1857. His father came to Minnesota in 1858, but left his family
in New Jersey until he could prepare a home for them. In 1859, they came to Hastings, and here Lawrence attended
the High school eight years. In 1874, he commenced his career as teacher in Lebanon township, and has since taught
in the county. While teaching in Rosemount he organized a brass band, afterward becoming its leader.
