Hugh Burns was born in County Mayo, Ireland, in 1837. When twelve years old he came to America, and for seven
years resided in Clinton, Massachusetts; thence to West Virginia, where he remained three years. Coming westward,
he made a claim of one hundred and sixty acres in Eagan township, Minnesota, and three years later disposed of
it, then purchased a farm of the same size in section 3. Mr. Burns has a fine farm and is a well to do farmer;
has held the office of chairman of town board. Married in 1884, Miss Maria Cunningham. Their living children are:
Mary, Charles, Hugh, Elizabeth, Clara and Ellen.
