ZACHARIAS, Allen Howard, msnufacturer; born, Ann Arbor, Mich., Feb. 12, 1875; son of Peter H. and Elizabeth E. (Tillott) Zacharias; of German, English and American descent, ancestor from Germany arriving in America in 1750; graduated Detroit Central High School, 1893; literary and law courses, University of Michigan, 2 years; married, June 26, 1902, Gertrude Wiley, of Detroit. Left college June, 1897, and entered firm of P. H. Zacharias, wholesale and retail coal, as general manager; in Oct., 1908, firm retired from business. Began organization of Detroit Pressed Steel Co., automobile frames and heavy stampings, July 1, 1909, and has from the start been president and general manager same. Member Society Automobile Engineers. Active at times in school and municipal affairs in the interest of others. Trustee Detroit High School Scholarship Fund Association. Progressive in politics. Formerly Presbyterian, now liberal in religious opinions. Member Delta Upsilon fraternity (University of Michigan Chapter). Clubs: Detroit Athletic, Detroit Boat, University of Michigan Club (Detroit). Recreation: fond of outdoor sports. Office: 1800 Mt. Elliott Ave. Residence: 123 Virginia Park.
