(Mattern) York; educated in public schools, Warrior's Mark, Pa.; B.S. and M.A., Pennsylvania State College, 1900; M.D., College of Physicians & Surgeons, New York, 1904; married, Apr. 17, 1906, Frances P. Hutchinson, of Washington, D. C.; 4 children: Mary Stewart, Hayward Freeland, Harry Hutchinson, William Francis. Practiced medicine at Warrior's Mark 3 years; came to Detroit, 1910, and since manager the Malena Co., manufacturers of soaps, ointments, pills and specialties. Democrat. Methodist. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Mason. Recreations: fishing, hunting. Office: cor. York St. and 2d Ave. Residence: 761 Cass Ave.
