VON SCHLEGELL, Arthur, general manager Michigan State Telephone Co.; born, St. Louis, Dec. 15, 1872; son of Frederick von and Marie (Mueller) Von Schiegell; parents came to U. S. in 1870; grandfather commander of military school, Potadam, Germany; father lieutenant in Franz Josef Grenadiers (Prussian); educated in public schools of St Louis and Minneapolis, Minn.; graduate Minneapolis High School; matriculated University of Minnesota, but did not attend; married, Apr. 3, 1892, Grace Laraway, of Minneapolis; 1 daughter, Abby Elise. Began active career as deputy clerk of court in Minneapolis, and continued 2 years; clerk National Bank of Commerce, Minneapolis, 2 years; with construction and maintenance department of street railway company, St. Louis, 1 year, operating department of street railway company, Minneapolis, 1 year; contract agent Northwestern Telephone Co., Minneapolis, then manager there, general contract agent for the company, Duluth Co. and Mesaba Co., to 1907; then entered service of Michigan Telephone Co., of which became general contract superintendent, also of Central Union Co., Wisconsin, and Cleveland Co.; has been general manager Michigan State Telephone Co. since July, 1912; president Cheboygan Telephone Co.; vice president Lenawee County Telephone Co. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Republican. Unitarian. Member B. P. O. Elks. Clubs: Detroit, Exchange. Eecreation: outdoor diversions. Office: Telephone Bldg. Residence: 1115 Woodward Ave.
