VOELKNER, Henry A., manufacturing; born, Danzie, Germany, Nov. 5, 1853; son of John E. and Amelia (Nagel) Voelkner; educated by home Study and at Goldsmith's Business College, Detroit; married at Detroit, 1882, Carrie Dahmer (died, May 29, 1911); 1 son, George H. (M.D.). Came to America, 1863, and located in Detroit; learned trade of wire making, pattern making, etc., and worked as machinist for some time; established the Voelkner Electrical Works, in 1888, which was changed in 1894 to the Voelkner & Reinke Manufacturing Co., of which was Secretary and treasurer, 1894.1903; president VoelknerHarry Manufacturing Co. since 1904; also president The Simms & Voelkner Cut Glass Co. Republican. Lutheran. Member Masonic order (32°), Knights Templar, Shrine. Club: Harmonie. Office: 282 Woodbridge St. E. Residence: 40 Bethune Ave.
