(Cranston) Utter; educated in Detroit public schools; married, Detroit, Feb. 1, 1908, Hattie Hurd Whitehead. Studied
law two years previous to taking up life insurance, in 1891, as cashier in office of the New England Mutual Life
Insurance Co. of Boston; became superintendent of agencies, of Michigan, 1898, and assistant superintendent of
agencies at home office in Boston; returned to Detroit, 1904, and with A. B. Thomson organized the firm of Utter
& Thomson, general agents New England Mutual Life Insurance Co. Member Detroit Life Under. writers' Association
(ex president), Detroit Board of Commerce. Progressive. Protestant. Club: Detroit Boat. Recreation: fishing. Offices:
203-204 Telegraph Bldg. Residence: 1143 Cass Ave.
